New Member Program

We strive to bring women into our Sisterhood who are going to be leaders, contributors and a Sister in every sense of the word. Real Merit and Worth: The New Member Program was designed with this in mind – enhancing leadership skills, setting goals, understanding who Alpha Xi Delta is at her core and providing opportunities for our newest members to create deep, meaningful relationships with each other, the chapter and our national organization. Hi All!  

My name is Maggie Downard and I am currently a sophomore majoring in special education and early childhood education with a minor in coaching. I am currently the New Member Orientation Director and Recruitment 365 position for our chapter. I am looking forward to meeting our pledge class of fall 2024 and cannot wait to introduce them to the values and traditions of Alpha Xi Delta.  

By using the Real Merit and Worth program, I will be able to teach new members about what Alpha Xi Delta truly means to us. It will introduce our history, traditions, and how our chapter works. I am eager to teach new members the true importance of Alpha Xi Delta and how they can uphold our traditions and embody what Alpha Xi Delta is. I will help guide them in learning about Alpha Xi Delta, going through Big-Little, initiation and everything that comes with being a new member.  

I will be using leadership skills that I have learned through being a part of this chapter and outside of the chapter. I hope to become a person that our new members can look to as a guide throughout their new experience of joining Alpha Xi Delta. In the past, I gained knowledge from my New Member Orientation Director along with others that withheld this position, and I hope to make new members feel as welcome and comfortable as past position holders have. I hope to teach new members how to become the best sister they can through courage, graciousness, and peace. My experience within Alpha Xi Delta has made a significant impact on my life and has truly made my time at Marietta College special. I hope to make new members feel the same as I do about Alpha Xi, and I am extremely excited to meet and share my knowledge with incoming members.
