At Marietta College, Panhellenic uses a partially structured recruitment style, which blends the organization of formal recruitment with the flexibility of informal recruitment. This means that while there are designated events that introduce potential new members (PNMs) to all sororities, chapters also have the freedom to extend invitations and connect with women outside of those structured rounds, especially through Continuous Open Bidding (COB) in the spring. Because the process is not solely focused on numbers or appearances, but rather on creating authentic conversations and personal connections, it emphasizes a values-based recruitment approach. PNMs are encouraged to consider how each sorority’s values such as leadership, service, scholarship, and sisterhood align with their own, while chapters look for women who share and embody their ideals. This makes recruitment at Marietta College not just about joining a sorority, but about finding a community where one’s values can be lived out and supported.
